Basic Principles of Finding the Will of God
A. The Will of God is not some mysterious, unattainable ideal, but a clear and continuous unfolding of His sovereign and perfect plan for His creation.

B. The nature of God is to reveal rather than conceal.

C. The Will of God always involves direction and detail — that is, content and timing. It is essential to determine not only what God wills, but when He wills it to be accomplished.
1. The entire Bible.

3. John 11.
4. John 13.
5. John 17:1-8.

There are several aids in knowing the will of God. They are listed below in order of authority and priority.

A. Word of God.
1. The Bible (logos) is the general Will of God to you.
2. Psalm 119-16-17, 25, 28.
3. John 1:1-5
4. Colossians 3:16.
5. I John 2:14.

B. The inner leading of the Holy Spirit.
1. God’s Word (Rhema) for you. The specific Will of God for you.
2. John 16:13.
3. Acts 13:2.
4. Romans 8:14-16.
5. Romans 10:17.
6. Galatians 5: 16-18.
7. Ephesians 6:17.

C. Natural/supernatural inclinations, talents and gifts – knowing who you are!

6. I corinthians 12:11.

D. Godly advice and counsel. (Body of Christ).

The will of God begins today by doing the right thing, the obvious thing, that needs to be done while remaining open to the continual leading of the Holy Spirit.

A. Matthew 6:33-34.
1. By being obedient to God’s Will for us today, there is no need to worry about tomorrow.
2. Today’s obedience is preparing us for God’s Will for us tomorrow.

C. Some beliefs that chain us to making wrong decisions
– I will be happy if I find the one God has predestined me to marry
– I will be happy if I find the career I’m predestined for
– I can only be happy if I find out what I am destined to do / what’s in the stars / etc.

Examples – Life’s Most Important Decisions
1. What will I do with Jesus Christ?
2. What will I do as my life’s vocation for finances & in the body of Christ?
3. What people will I share my time with (mate, friends, church) & how will I interact with them.
